The One Outside the Classroom

I love my classroom. It's a bright fun place where learning takes place. But sometimes, it is nice to get outside of the classroom. Learning is not limited to the four walls that make up a school.

I just spent six days in California with thirty students.  What a trip!  We learned far more than I ever imagined on our little adventure.

Students were exposed to new cultures, new languages, history, science, art, pop culture, and so much more.

We spent two days in San Francisco where we visited the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, AT&T Park (Giants Stadium), and more.

Then it was time to hop on a bus and head to LA where we visited Hollywood, Beverly Hills, The Getty, the La Bre Tar Pits, and more.

It was a fun-filled six days.  My students experienced many firsts.  I'm so thankful to work for an administration who not only allows but encourages trips like this one.

We made memories that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

  1. I love your pictures!!! That trip sounds amazing--- it is nice to work for a district that realizes the value of travel and experiencing new things. I am jealous, I have never been to California! What a special way to end the year at that school.

  2. My, what a marvelous trip! I’m glad the students really enjoyed their trip and have learned a lot from it. You know I agree that students should also learn and be open to other cultures and practices. Making them aware of their environment will help them in interacting and of course, in the decision-making.
